Summer Scrubs is a free, three-day career exploration opportunity for current 11th grade students in Mobile and Baldwin counties who want to explore careers in healthcare. Participants spend each day at a different healthcare sites and interact with and observe health professionals on the job in a “real-world” environment.
Who Can Participate?
Students must currently be in the 11th grade and meet the below selection criteria:
- Interest in attending college to pursue a career in healthcare
- At least a 2.5 GPA
- No record of disciplinary action
- No unexcused school absences
When is Summer Scrubs?
July 14-16, 2020
8:00 am to Noon each day
Students will be assigned to different healthcare sites each day. Students and/or parents are responsible for transportation to each of the sites daily.
How do I Participate in Summer Scrubs?
Potential participants must turn in the following by the March 6, 2020 deadline to be considered:
- Application, including unweighted GPA and essay question
- Two teacher recommendations (at least one must be from a math/science/healthcare teacher)
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the program by April ______.
- If selected for Summer Scrubs, participants must then submit required paperwork and TB test, as well as attend a mandatory orientation session in the spring.
